Workshop Outline

The popularity and awareness of 3D Printing is exploding. Over the last several years, 3D printing has caught the attention of VPET teachers who are looking into ways to incorporate it into their classrooms. As 3D printing allows students to make their ideas tangible, they are not only learning concepts from a book, but also bringing these ideas to life by visualising them in three-dimensional space.

This workshop aims to introduce the basic knowledge of 3D printing for the absolute beginners. Participants will have the opportunity to apply 3D printing techniques to turn their ideas into reality.

On completion of this workshop, the participants would be able to:

  • describe the applications of 3D printing technology in various sectors in VPET; and
  • use appropriate computer-aided design (CAD) software and 3D printer to produce a real 3D object.

Workshop Materials for Download

The session provides an introduction on the 3D printing technique adapted for learning and teaching in VPET.

Mr See Chun Hung, the trainer of Pro-Act Training and Development Centre, guides a tour and introduces different types of 3D printers to the participants.

Innovative Pedagogical Strategies in VPET Series

Innovative Pedagogical Strategies in VPET Series is funded by the Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) on the project of “Development of Effective Pedagogical Practices and a Cross-institutional Online Sharing Platform for Hong Kong's Vocational Education and Training (VET)”. It offers seminars and workshops on a regular basis to keep VPET academic and teaching staff, workplace mentors and VPET stakeholders abreast of the most updated flexible learning, innovative pedagogical practices, competency-based and task-oriented instructional strategies. It also serves the purpose of enhancing peer learning between institutions’ academic and teaching staff and workplace mentors to maximise support to students during their workplace learning and industrial attachment.
