Effective and appropriate pedagogies are important in facilitating learning in vocational and professional education and training (VPET). In this workshop, suitable VPET pedagogical practices such as differentiated instructions, work-integrated learning and technology enhanced learning (TEL) will be introduced. Specific instructional strategies in the context of VPET will also be discussed in the workshop.
This workshop aims to promote the design of flexible and blended learning with up-to-date technologies specifically for vocational and professional education and training (VPET). Massive open online course (MOOC), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), in-class clickers and mobile learning applications will be introduced. Demonstration and hands-on practice on the technologies will be provided, to help participants design flexible and blended learning and teaching activities.
This workshop prepares vocational and professional education and training (VPET) teachers and workplace mentors with effective mentoring techniques to help students learn better in workplaces. Participants will explore the characteristics of the young mentees; and discuss the skills of communication, goal setting, and giving constructive feedback. The workshop also serves as a platform for participants to share their expertise and experience as mentors in workplaces.
Innovative Pedagogical Strategies in VPET Series is funded by the Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) on the project of “Development of Effective Pedagogical Practices and a Cross-institutional Online Sharing Platform for Hong Kong's Vocational Education and Training (VET)”. It offers seminars and workshops on a regular basis to keep VPET academic and teaching staff, workplace mentors and VPET stakeholders abreast of the most updated flexible learning, innovative pedagogical practices, competency-based and task-oriented instructional strategies. It also serves the purpose of enhancing peer learning between institutions’ academic and teaching staff and workplace mentors to maximise support to students during their workplace learning and industrial attachment.
