A. About this Project


  1. What is this Project about?

    This Project aims to:

    • identify learning and teaching needs of vocational and professional education and
      training (VPET) in Hong Kong;
    • develop a series of teaching and learning packages from selected programmes to
      cater for the needs of students, teachers and workplace mentors;
    • establish an online learning and teaching platform to share exemplary teaching and
      learning packages; and
    • develop and deliver continuing professional development programmes and training to
      equip stakeholders with the most updated pedagogical strategies.
  2. What are the deliverables of this Project?

    Upon completion of this Project, the following deliverables are to be generated:

    • A sustainable online learning and teaching platform developed for students, teachers
      and workplace mentors across institutions to build a network and establish a
      sustainable learning community for sharing quality learning and teaching materials,
      teaching practices and work professionalism.
    • Teaching and learning packages of selected vocational skill modules of various
      programmes are to be developed with the proposed vocational education pedagogy.
      The proposed vocational modules from the programmes areas will be developed in
      technology enhanced learning and teaching resources.
    • Mentoring guides on the teaching of VPET, assessment and workplace mentoring,
      in either print, multimedia online version, or e-book format such as ePub.
    • Continuing professional development programmes and training for teachers and
      workplace mentors of VPET focusing on the proposed themes of 'instructional
      differentiation', 'innovative pedagogical practices', 'flexible learning' and
      'competency-based and task-oriented instructional strategies'.
    • Documentation of findings concerning students’ learning needs and experience
      together with teaching practices and the proposed innovative pedagogical practices
      for VPET.
    • Archives of all the information, documentation, research results, good practices of
      learning and teaching as well as the teaching materials of the continuing professional
      development programmes and training.
    • An evaluation report and sharing sessions to disseminate project findings and
       deliverables.
  3. Who are the beneficiaries of this Project?

    This Project benefits VPET institutions, teachers, workplace mentors, students and the public who are interested in VPET.

  4. How do I keep track of the progress of the Project and its deliverables?

    The Project' s progress and updated deliverables will be announced in a timely and accessible manner in the section of Project Development Progress and the page of Teaching and Learning Packages in the Project website.

  5. ​Can I get access to the Project related documents (i.e. proposal, survey reports, annual reports, etc.)?

    All the Project related documents are open to public' s review upon registration. The documents can be viewed and downloaded from the page of Archives & Documentation in the Project website later.

  6. Can my institution or I participate in this Project? If yes, how?

    Currently the Project is collaborated between Vocational Training Council (VTC), the Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK), Caritas Institution of Higher Education (CIHE) and Caritas Bianchi College of Careers (CBCC) and is funded by the Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) under the Self-financing Post-secondary Education Fund. Nevertheless, we welcome new partners and individuals to join the Project for sustainability after the completion of this Project in 2018. Please contact the Project Team for details.

B. Register as Users 


  1. Who can register a user account of this platform?

    We welcome teachers, workplace mentors, students and the public who are interested in VPET to register as users.

  2. Is there any registration fee for users?

    There is no registration fee for users.

  3. Is there an institutional user account?

    Currently there is no institutional user account provided.

  4. Do I have to register through my institution?

    It is not necessary to register through your institution since all interested individuals can register as users.

  5. What can I access after registering as a user?

    Once registered, there is accessibility to all the materials on the page of Learning and Teaching Resources and Documentation and Archives in the Project website.

C. Seminars and Training Workshops


  1. What are the purposes of the seminars and training workshops?

    The purposes of the seminars and training workshops are to equip stakeholders with the most updated pedagogical strategies in vocational and professional education and training (VPET) through structured continuing professional development programmes and provide a platform for knowledge sharing and exchange.

  2. Who are the facilitators of the seminars and training workshops?

    Education Development Officers from Centre for Learning and Teaching of Vocational Training Council, guest facilitators from local and overseas institutions and industry professionals will deliver the seminars and training workshops.

  3. Who can enrol in the seminars and training workshops?

    Academic and teaching staff from vocational and professional education and training (VPET) institutions and higher education institutions, VPET workplace mentors, VPET stakeholders, and interested members of the public are welcome.

  4. Are the seminars and training workshops free of charge?

    All seminars and training workshops are free of charge.

  5. Where can I get the updated information of the seminars and training workshops?

    The updated information of the seminars and training workshops will be uploaded to the Project website regularly. Additional emails will be sent to all registered users, staff of project collaborating institutions, and other relevant institutions and organisations.

  6. Do I need to enrol through the institution I am working at?

    The seminars and training workshops are open to members of the public; hence there is no need to enrol through institutions.

  7. Will I get a certificate after completion of the seminars and training workshops?

    Certificate of Attendance (with training hours) will be issued jointly by VTC, OUHK, CIHE and CBCC after completion of the seminars and training workshops.

  8. Can I propose or request specific topics for the seminars and training workshops?

    We welcome requests for specific topics, however, the discretion rests with the Project Team.

D. Technical Support


  1. Other than my PC and notebook computer, can I use my smart phone (i.e. android phone or iphone), tablet or ipad to access the learning and teaching materials on this platform?

    The platform can be accessed by various systems and devices and the learning and teaching materials are also developed for cross platform access.

  2. Do I need to install specific programmes, plug-ins or apps in order to run the multi-media learning and teaching materials?

    The multi-media learning and teaching materials are user friendly and normally do not need specific programmes and apps to run.

  3. Will there be user guides or online tutorials to familiarise users with the platform and the multi-media learning and teaching materials?

    User guides and online tutorials will be uploaded later to familiarise users with the platform and the multi-media learning and teaching materials.

  4. Whom should I contact if I encounter technical problems?
