Aseptic drug dispensing is the preparation and supply of sterile medical products in a form ready for use. Preparation is carried out by trained personnel under controlled environment (usually clean rooms). Dispensing cytotoxic drugs requires special training in order to protect both the operator and the products. These skills are covered in the teaching and learning activities of programmes in the health disciplines. Therefore, teaching staff should often be updated with the latest knowledge and techniques.This seminar is designed to meet the needs of teaching staff who are engaged in teaching the aseptic processing of medicines. It provides an update on knowledge of standards, practices and quality assurance arrangements relating to the aseptic preparation and dispensing of medicines, and safe handling of cytotoxic drugs.

Ms Kwok is currently the Business Director of the Hong Kong Integrated Oncology Centre. Her professional qualifications include: Registered Pharmacist (Hong Kong), Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist and Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (Board of Pharmacy Specialties, American Pharmacists Association).Ms Kwok had worked as a Clinical Pharmacist in oncology at the Queen Mary Hospital before serving at the current position. She is highly experienced in oncology pharmacy, delivery of aseptic services and specialized training for staff. She is also an active member in various professional bodies and institutes in the healthcare field.

Innovative Pedagogical Strategies in VPET Series is funded by the Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) on the project of “Development of Effective Pedagogical Practices and a Cross-institutional Online Sharing Platform for Hong Kong's Vocational Education and Training (VET)”. It offers seminars and workshops on a regular basis to keep VPET academic and teaching staff, workplace mentors and VPET stakeholders abreast of the most updated flexible learning, innovative pedagogical practices, competency-based and task-oriented instructional strategies. It also serves the purpose of enhancing peer learning between institutions’ academic and teaching staff and workplace mentors to maximise support to students during their workplace learning and industrial attachment.
