​​​Project Summary

Making reference to world-renowned Vocational Education and Training (VET) systems in Finland, Germany and Switzerland, this project aims to review, develop and share effective and innovative pedagogical practices and resources across institutions and industries in Hong Kong.

Funded by Quality Enhancement Support Scheme (QESS) of the Education Bureau (EDB), this 3-year project signifies a collaborative effort of Vocational Training Council (VTC), The Open University of Hong Kong (OUHK), Caritas Institute of Higher Education (CIHE) and Caritas Bianchi College of Careers (CBCC) to bring closer alignment of vocational and professional education and training (VPET) services to the industries.

This cross-institutional project will:

  • identify learning and teaching needs of VPET in Hong Kong;
  • develop a series of teaching and learning packages from selected programmes to cater for the needs of students, teachers and workplace mentors;
  • establish an online learning and teaching platform to share exemplary teaching and learning packages; and
  • develop and deliver continuing professional development programmes and training to equip stakeholders with updated pedagogical strategies.

Project Deliverables

A Cross-institutional Online Learning and Teaching Platform for students, teachers and workplace mentors across institutions to build network and establish a sustainable learning community for sharing quality learning and teaching materials, teaching practices and work professionalism.

Teaching and Learning Package Exemplars to be developed with the selected vocational education pedagogy.  The proposed vocational modules from the programmes areas below will be developed in technology enhanced learning and teaching resources.

Mentoring Guides on the teaching of VPET, assessment and workplace mentoring.

Continuing Professional Development Programmes for teachers and workplace mentors of VPET focusing on the themes of 'instructional differentiation', 'innovative pedagogical practices', 'flexible learning' and 'competency-based and task-oriented instructional strategies'.

Reports and Resources including project information, documentation, study results, good practices of learning and teaching as well as the reference materials of the continuing professional development programmes and training.
